2017 Australian Bicycle Summit comes to Brisbane
Queensland Minister for Main Roads the Hon. Mark Bailey will deliver the Key Note Address at the 2017 Australian Bicycle Summit and Cycling Luminaries Awards in Brisbane during Queensland Bike Week (May 6 – 14).
Bicycle Queensland CEO Ben Wilson, an Australian Bicycle Summit delegate for 20 years, is excited to welcome the Australian Bicycle Summit to Brisbane for the first time.
“It is great to lock Minister Bailey into an important national summit like this and I am hopeful he will use Bike Week to announce a meaningful new initiative to get more Queenslanders cycling more often,” Mr Wilson said.
The event brings Australian cycling organisations and industry leaders together to further cycling advocacy and development, and to celebrate achievements within the field through the Cycling Luminaries Awards.
“Queensland has shown leadership in strategic planning and policy inclusivity for cycling. Bike Week and the Australian Bicycle Summit, is a chance to showcase to the nation positive progress in cycling from a Queensland perspective,” Mr Wilson said.
“From roadies to commuters, planners to engineers, clubs to BUGs, Bike Week offers a chance for engagement and participation, and enhances Bicycle Queensland’s mission to get more people cycling more often.”
Bicycle Queensland is pleased to work with the Cycling Promotion Fund during Bike Week and looks forward to a successful Australian Bicycle Summit on Friday May 12 at the Queensland Cricketers Club.
