Coot-tha Challenge age categories expanded to include 80+
Bicycle Queensland has bowed to pressure and expanded the BDO Brisbane Coot-tha Challenge age categories to include a new division – 80+.
Previously age categories only went up to 70-79, but having recently celebrated his 80th birthday Samford’s Jim Heron led the campaign to have a new age category created.
For the record, Jim last year climbed Coot-tha in 22 minutes and 43 seconds but has increased his training regime and is aiming for around 18 minutes this year.
Jim’s our hot tip to take out the 80+ category but if you’d like to challenge him, it’s not too late to enter.
BDO Brisbane Coot-tha Challenge online entries close at midday on Friday 22 March.
Last minutes entries will be accepted at South Bank on Saturday 23 March from 12noon to 3pm and on Sunday 24 March from 5am. However, last minute entries do not receive a timing chip or merchandise.
