Downer Brisbane to Gold Coast Cycle Challenge Update

The team at Bicycle Queensland are excited to bring the 17th edition of the Downer Brisbane to Gold Coast Cycle Challenge to the streets of Queensland in July. This year’s event is set to be another fantastic day, with thousands of participants already signing up to complete the challenge.

This iconic ride not only brings the cycling community together for a day of fun, it showcases the mental and physical health benefits of bike riding and encourages more people to ride more often.

The new event date on Sunday, July 17 has been secured to ensure we can provide a safe and enjoyable event for all participants. As we all know the later months of the year come with unpredictable weather, and to help reassure us of great riding conditions, we have opted for dry July.

The increase in events across the calendar has made it challenging to schedule a major event that works with all stakeholders. We want to avoid competing with other events and ensure participants can enjoy all the great events across South East Queensland.

The B2GC being a linear event means transport is an important component of a successful day. July has allowed us to secure everything we need to ensure a safe and enjoyable day for everyone.

With change comes new opportunity, and we are excited to be launching new features to elevate this year’s program. With a revamped finish line festival, training plans and resources and Tour de France inspired rest stops.

As we draw closer to the event, we encourage everyone to grab their friends, family or colleagues and join the challenge to help promote a healthier and active Queensland. We also encourage participants to support our charity partner Stronger for Longer and help raise funds to support promising research into prostate cancer treatment for men.

We look forward to seeing you at the start line on Sunday, July 17!
