Making Change

Bicycle Queensland has a 40-year track record of being involved in the development and implementation of major bikeway projects across the state. Bicycle Queensland’s advocacy played a role in development of Queensland’s Principal Cycle Network Plan, which guides the development of new bikeways.

BQ’s advocacy also led to the development of the Queensland Government implementing a policy of providing for cycling in all upgrades of state-controlled roads.

The Woolloongabba Bikeway is a great example of Bicycle Queensland’s collaborative approach, as we commissioned a concept design that helped gain the support of all sides of politics, in the lead-up to an election.

Bicycle Queensland works with local advocates on projects right across the state, including rail trails such as the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail, and the Kingaroy to Kilkivan Rail Trail.

Bicycle Queensland is leading the development of the Commuter Harmony Alliance, a group of stakeholder organisations representing the community’s desire to travel safely to our destinations, regardless of the mode chosen.
