Four days of riding adventures, country hospitality, local experiences and ANZAC Day traditions await when Bicycle Queensland’s Weekend at Wondai returns in 2027.
Delivered in partnership with the South Burnett Rail Trail Users Association and proudly supported by the Queensland Government, Weekend at Wondai is your opportunity to discover the best of the South Burnett, on and off the bike.
Whether you’re looking for challenging gravel rides, relaxed rail trail adventures, country hospitality or a long weekend away with friends, there’s something for everyone.
Choose your ride, choose your adventure
With rides across four days, you can make your Weekend at Wondai as adventurous or relaxed as you like.
Kick things off on Friday evening with a guided night ride along the South Burnett Rail Trail, before settling into the weekend with dinner at one of Wondai’s local pubs or eateries.
Saturday brings a full program of riding adventures, from shorter coffee rides to longer gravel and backroad challenge rides. Explore the peaceful countryside around Gordonbrook Dam, Memerambi, Wooroolin and Murgon, or take on a longer ride through the region.
There are opportunities to discover the local rail trail network, enjoy quiet country roads, stop for morning tea and experience the warm welcome of South Burnett communities.
Experience ANZAC Day in the country
One of the highlights of Weekend at Wondai 2027 is the opportunity to experience ANZAC Day in regional Queensland.
Start Sunday 25 April at the Wondai Dawn Service, joining the local community to commemorate the service and sacrifice of Australian and New Zealand servicemen and women.
Later in the morning, riders can attend ANZAC Day commemorations in Wondai, Murgon or Wooroolin. If you’d rather discover some of the rides on your own – you can do that too.
In the afternoon, experience another local tradition at the Wondai ANZAC Day Races. Enjoy the atmosphere of a country race meeting, or choose from the afternoon’s riding and bike skills activities.
Then gather back at the event base for a hearty camp oven dinner, dessert and an evening of entertainment and good company.
It’s a chance to experience ANZAC Day in a different setting, surrounded by the community spirit and traditions of the South Burnett.
More than just riding
Weekend at Wondai is about discovering the region, not just riding through it.
Take an optional winery tour to Moffatdale, explore local museums and galleries, browse the Wondai markets or relax with friends after a morning on the bike.
The program also includes opportunities to improve your mountain bike skills in McEuen State Forest or learn more about looking after your bike at a maintenance workshop.
For those looking to discover the region’s history and culture, the South Burnett has plenty to offer, including museums, heritage attractions and local experiences worth adding to your visit.
Make the weekend your own
Camp at the event base in Wondai, or choose your own accommodation in the region. With evening entertainment, shared meals and plenty of opportunities to explore, it’s the perfect excuse for a country escape.
Ride every day, choose a couple of favourites, or mix riding with local attractions and time to relax.
Bring your gravel bike or mountain bike and discover why the South Burnett is such a rewarding place to ride.

Bicycle Queensland are partnering with Somerset Regional Council to host the Rail Trails and Tourism Conference 2024. The conference will take place at the Somerset Civic Centre, Esk across November 6-7, with the two days offering input around building rail trail tourism, and building rail trails themselves. The conference is possible thanks to the support of Somerset Regional Council and the Department of Main Roads.
