Ironbark Gully

Samford Conservation Park is the place to be!

Located on Brisbane’s North Side this park has some great trails loved by locals. Not only does the park have 4 brilliant descending trails but the main attraction is often the great skills park area. Popular with kids learning how to ride & those practicing jumping techniques you will often find families & riders of all ages & abilities.

Be sure to check out the flow trail “Kombi” you’re sure to enjoy the berms. For those looking for something more technical or some gap jumps the new “Whip Snake” trail is sure to impress.

Be prepared for a steep fire road climb for the meantime until the new up trail is due for completion in early 2021. If the hills are too hard you can shuttle the trails by driving to the top of Mailmans Track/Bygotts Road. For a more in depth explanation of routes to follow visit Queensland’s Parks website.

Sugarbag Road

Caloundra’s Playground

If you like north shore (bridges, see-saws, ramps & wall rides) then you have to get the bike out to Sugarbag Road trails. The unique network which is just a short drive from the beautiful Sunshine Coast beaches boast over 60 timber features. With trails rating from green to double black you’ll have a blast on the 11 trails. For those more experienced be sure to check out the double black diamond skills area dubbed the “Playground”.

Please be careful when attempting new features & ride to your ability. The Caloundra Off-Road Cycling Association has done a great job in developing the network with more work in the pipeline.

Victory Heights

Gympie’s single track paradise

While Gympie might not be known for it’s mountain bike riding, it surely has progressed over the recent years. Now boasting over 20kms of trails which suit everyone from beginners to those more advanced. If heading North we recommend stopping by for a quick ride. The climbs are easy and there is plenty to keep you entertained!

There is even a purpose built kids challenge track which will have the kids (and bigger kids) entertained for ages. Parking is best off Bath Terrace and you will find toilets, a bike wash station, covered picnic tables and potable water on site.

Parklands

Nambour has riding too!

Another Sunshine Coast favourite is Parklands! Home to some of Queensland’s greatest “Old school” mountain bike trails and you might even catch a glimpse of the resident Emu – Fluffy!

While most trails are geared towards the intermediate & advanced riders (lots of tight turns, tree roots and jumps) work was done in 2017 to provide a 3km green loop great for families called “Lush”.

We recommend downloading Trailforks (free mobile app) or going out with a group as it’s very easy to get lost among the 30km of single track if venturing out to the “meadows”. If wanting to stick close to the trail head, the 2 new trails “Tazer” and “Blue Tongue” are a heap of fun & and require just a short hill climb.

Tewantin – Wooroi Trails

The best trails on the Sunshine Coast!

Arguably one of the best spots for riding in South East Queensland, the Wooroi trails at Tewantin make for an epic day out. With constant trail work undertaken to maintain, improve and create new trails there is something to suit everyone.

Beginners will love the “Glider” & “Secrets” trails while those more experienced will be screaming in joy on “Trailblazer” and “Milkmaid”. Made even easier with a bitumen climb along Gyndier Drive (closed to vehicles) you will enjoy the rainforest environment, features and views.

If you are wanting to explore more of the forest, the local bike shop Spoke N Trail do shuttles on the weekends, hire bikes and more.
