Heading away? Why not Hervey Bay!

One can’t think of a better place to ride than Hervey Bay. While still a renowned sea side town it is also home to Vernon State Forest. This provides locals & weekend travelers with a variety of mountain bike trails to try out & then go for a swim after.

The trails at Toogom have been specifically created in partnership with the local Fraser Coast Mountain Bike Club to meet national standards. The climbing trails are easy which makes this an excellent place to practice your descending skills. So next time you visit to see the Whales – pack your bike as well!

Promisedland MTB

Bundaberg’s Cordalba State Forest

Bundaberg isn’t just for Rum – it’s for mountain bike riding too. The small but fun trail network makes up what is the Promisedland trails. Here you will cross rocky gullies and meander through the tall open forests.

Hidden Vale Adventure Park

The Ultimate Day Out in Ipswich!

Hidden Vale Adventure Park (HVAP) has it all when it’s concerned with mountain biking in South-East Queensland. The park has the largest network (110km +) of trails within an hour’s drive from Brisbane, and is home to world class trails. Suited for all levels of riders this is the ultimate weekend getaway for singles, couples, friends & families.

Access into the park will cost you only $10 and you will be given a trail map & use of the facilities which includes a bike washing bay. Once your finished exploring the epic trails, wind your way back to the Barn for the “Mountain Bikers Meal” – Burger, fries and beer!

HVAP also offers a shuttle service & bike hire, so no matter where you are coming from you’ll be ready to ride. Operating in conjunction with the Spicers Hidden Vale Retreat you can choose to stay in one of the lovely cabins or suites if staying for a few days.

Jubilee Park

The heart of Toowoomba

Mountain biking has evolved over the years and establishes roots even in the regional areas. In Toowoomba’s case it’s established it’s rocks & created a network of 28kms suitable for the beginners up to the advanced downhill riders.

Shuttles are run on the weekends by Frenzy MTB and are a great way to explore the network as the climbs are quite steep. The Toowoomba MTB Club is also a great resource to find out more on the area.

The best parking for beginners & families is at the Bridge St & Dudley St Car Park. This will be the best access for the popular “Defibrillator” loop.

Gladstone MTB Park

Explore the countryside

Overt the past few years Gladstone has worked hard to create a premier venue for mountain bikers. Now with over 20km of hand & machine built single track it’s time to check it out! Trails range from easy green trails to steep & technical black trails.

Rowallan Park

Mackay is booming!

The trails in Mackay cater for everyone from the novice to experienced rider. With plenty of up and downhill sections, jumps, bumps, switchbacks, rock-gardens, sweeping berms, tricky trees to ride around and through, as well as a-line and b-line options to keep you on your toes. 

If you’re planning a road trip up the northern coast – make sure to stop here & explore the trails and Mackay, you wont be disappointed.

First Turkey MTB Reserve

Get Rocky at Rockhampton!

Just a 15 minute drive from the CBD you will find a trail network worth drooling over! With an array of trails suiting everyone from the cross country fanatics to those more prone to gravity enduro scene. One of Queensland’s best flow trails calls Rockhampton home – make sure to ride “Megatron” for some MEGA fun! You can expect a decent amount of climbing, however the switchbacks make it that bit easier. Please note there are a few black & double black diamond trails – these have unavoidable, steep and rocky features and are best ridden with protective gear.

For the best access, the main car park is found at the corner of German St and Sunset Dr, North Rockhampton.

Cape Pallarenda

Townsville – Under the Radar

If coastal views is more your thing then this is the ride for you. The Under the Radar trail along Cape Pallarenda is your gateway to a very special part of Townsville. A ride to pack your camera, allow 1.5 hours of riding this great trail. Please note that while the trail is fairly easy it does have rough surfaces & steep sections in some areas.

To get there head to Cape Pallarenda, there is a car park off Cape Pallarenda Road. Ride up the Shelley Cove trail, past the World War II forts. Single track starts on opposite side to the water.
